Exploring Australia from Tasmania to Sydney

Let’s embark on an unforgettable journey as we traverse the stunning landscapes of Australia, exploring three vibrant cities: Hobart, Melbourne, and Sydney. While New Zealand captivated us with its small-town charm, Australia's east coast greeted us with its bustling metropolises and diverse culinary scene.

Our first stop was Hobart, nestled on the picturesque island of Tasmania, home to the iconic Tasmanian Devils. At Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, we had the unique opportunity to get up close with gray kangaroos, feed and pet them. This sanctuary has many different types of animals and birds, including Tasmanian devils. We learned about their incredible conservation efforts and how they work towards releasing the animals back into the wild.

Did you know that Tasmania operates a 24/7 rescue service for injured wildlife, ensuring their safety and well-being? It was heartwarming to learn how much people love and respect their country and wildlife.

Once again Mother Nature smiled on us as we headed to the top of Mt. Wellington. Our guide said on average out of every 15 tours, only 2 have good visibility from the mountain top. Everyone was in awe of the views and natural landscapes.

Melbourne, a paradise for food enthusiasts, surprised and delighted us with its diverse culinary offerings. Our guide did a fantastic job explaining the city’s history, buildings of significance and taking us to food spots we wouldn’t have tried (or found) on our own. Our gastronomic journey led us through side alleys and bustling markets, where we savored flavors from around the world.

Sydney is everything you see in pictures and more. We marveled at iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. We had time to relax on Bondi Beach and thoroughly enjoyed our city tour led by a local guide.

With our vacation coming to a close, we went all out with one last dinner together. We chose O Bar and Dining, another 360-degree rotating restaurant this time viewing the city at night. Everything about this experience was primo and it’s easy to see why it’s fully reserved months in advance.

Our last day in Sydney, found us in nature once more at Featherdale Wildlife Park. We encountered a wide array of Australian wildlife, including adorable koalas and yes, you can hold them! Featherdale is home to exclusively Australian animals, offering a true Australia wildlife experience.

Our journey concluded with a visit to the majestic Blue Mountains National Park, where we traversed the landscape by skyway, railway, and cableway, marveling at the breathtaking Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls and Jamison Valley.

The Blue Mountains get their name from the blue haze created by rays of light striking dust particles and small droplets of moisture in the atmosphere. The haze is an interesting phenomenon, noticeable because of the Eucalyptus trees in the area.
